By umair irfan updated jan 3, 2020, 3:37pm est The australian bushfires were more catastrophic than any simulation of our changing climate predicted. This update is not meant to be comprehensive with further evacuations and fires out of control in victoria, new south wales and south australia, the critical bushfire situation across the country continues.

At 6am, 63 bush and grass fires are burning in nsw, 25 still to be contained.

3 fires remain at the watch and act alert level. The bushfire outlook for july to september 2020 was predicting a normal fire potential in queensland with a good grass growth in many areas giving an increased risk of grass fires, an above normal season in the kimberley region of western australia as a result of good. The fires within the complex ignited august 16 and 17, 2020. In june 2019, the queensland fire and emergency service acting director warned of the potential for an early start to the bushfire season which normally starts in august.
