On taking garden leave the 2 months’ notice brings the termination date to 31 march 2014. When an employee is on garden leave their employment continues until the end of the notice period and they are entitled to remuneration and contractual benefits in the usual way, but they are not required to attend work. My employment start date was 1st april 2005.

I work in a highly competitive industry and my non compete seem to be ironclad.

One month or more worked = one week’s notice; When an employee gives notice of resignation, the employer should first check their employment agreement to make sure that they have given the right amount of notice. Whilst you are on garden leave, you will be entitled to full pay and company benefits, including bonuses. In some cases, your employer may place you on 'garden leave' during your notice period.
