Rear Cv Axle Clicking. The cv joints at the front wheels feature a spherical housing, which allows for up to 45 degrees turning, while those at the differentials and rear wheels are planar, allowing for only a small angular variation and a few millimeters extension or retraction. There are signs to look for when determining when to schedule an inspection of your vehicle’s front axle, rear axle, cv joints, and driveshaft components.

My old 2013 s60 had similar issue.
When i put it all back together i hear a clicking noise from the rear only when i'm turning. Clunking or clicking noises are signs that a cv joint needs replacement. When a cv axle goes bad you will hear clicking when you steer. My car exhibited 'classic' signs of the clicking axle problem.
